As a result of traditional teaching curriculums, historical knowledge (and interest) among Gen-Z and Gen-A is decreasing. These curriculums are outdated, inefficient and they prove younger generations require a different approach. Not only students are struggling, teachers are desperate for new (digital) tools they can apply to their classes which help keep their students engaged.
These students are evermore active in socio-political discussions. However , these discussions often miss the mark when historical context is left out. When this context is missing, these conversations are filled with inaccurate conclusions which fuel issues like misinformation and polarization, ultimately contributing to a more divided society.
History Notes is an online digital tool designed for history classes in high schools. It features an interactive world map covered in pins, each representing a song about a significant historical event or figure. The pins are placed based on the historical context of the song. Users can click on a pin to listen to the song, read historical background information, and view the lyrics. In order to see the website for yourself please open the following link on your laptop:
